Matt Malwitz is an avid wildlife photographer from Northern New Jersey specializing in avian species. Beginning as a birder in the latter years of high school, he soon found his interest leaned more toward photographing these animals rather than simply viewing them. Carrying a camera from the beginning, Matt photographed most species to keep a log of the species he encountered. He had little to no knowledge of photography and looked to the experts at Bergen County Camera to help guide him. Since then, Matt has worked hard at refining his skills as both a birder and an artist, studying the species he seeks to photograph and the work of great photographers for inspiration. His knowledge of photography and the natural world come from research, time in the field, and time spent learning under the tutelage of experienced birders and photographers.
